Club Focus: Hunter Valley Gymnastics

We’re excited to shine the spotlight on a club just around the corner from us; Hunter Valley Gymnastics.

With around 500 kids currently enrolled, they’ve created a space where children can build confidence, form friendships, and develop skills for life. Get to know the club more right here...

1. How did your club begin?

Hunter Valley Gymnastics opened with a simple goal; to provide a positive, high-quality gymnastics environment for local families in Thornton, NSW.

We are a small family business, but our program has grown steadily through word of mouth, strong family support, and a passion for developing confident, capable gymnasts in a safe and welcoming setting.

2. How many students do you currently teach, and what age groups or levels do you cater
to?

We currently coach a broad range of students across recreational and competitive programs. Our gym caters for children from kinder gym age through to senior competitive levels, offering pathways for both those who simply love to move and those who wish to pursue gymnastics more seriously. Our competitive program is Women’s Artistic Gymnastics.

Overall, we currently have about 500 kids enrolled each term!

3. Do you offer any inclusive programs for children with different abilities or needs?

We have been working with the Aspect School which are only down the road from us. We have been able to create a supportive environment where every child feels welcome and capable. Our coaching approach ensures children with additional needs can participate, progress, and enjoy gymnastics at their own pace.

4. What is your clubs mission statement?

Our mission is to inspire every child to discover their strength, embrace challenges, and develop their skills through quality gymnastics experiences. We nurture belonging, celebrate effort, and empower each gymnast to achieve their personal best – both in the
gym and beyond.

5. What are some objectives of your club?

  • To deliver high-quality, age-appropriate gymnastics programs
  • To support athlete development at all levels
  • To prioritise safety, wellbeing, and positive experiences
  • To foster strong club culture, teamwork, and sportsmanship
  • To support and develop young leaders and coaches within our club

6. What are you most proud of in your club?

We are most proud of our club culture. Hunter Valley Gymnastics is the place to be!

Where gymnasts support one another, families feel connected, and staff are passionate and committed. Watching our athletes grow not just in skill, but in confidence and character, is something we value deeply.

7. Are there any goals for your club in the future?

Our future goals include continued sustainable growth, expanding opportunities for both recreational and competitive gymnasts, and further developing our coaching team. We aim to continue strengthening our community presence while maintaining the personal, family-focused feel of our club.

8. Why do you think your club is important to families and your community?

Hunter Valley Gymnastics provides more than just sport — it offers a safe space for children to build confidence, friendships, and life skills. For many families, the gym becomes a second home and an important part of their weekly routine and community connection.

9. What piece of advice would you give to a gymnast/student?

Enjoy the journey. Progress in gymnastics takes time, patience, and persistence. Celebrate the small wins, trust the process, and remember that effort and attitude matter just as much as results. And have fun! Everything is easier when you are enjoying it.

10. Anything else you’d like to add.

We are incredibly grateful for the support of our families, staff, and our amazing little gymnasts. Their trust and encouragement allow us to keep doing what we love — helping young people grow through gymnastics.

A big thank you to Hunter Valley Gymnastics for being a part of our Club Focus series. To stay updated or learn more about the club, be sure to check out their Facebook and Instagram.
