Club Focus: The Allstars Gymnasts

For almost three decades, Allstars Gymnastics has helped children of different ages, abilities and stages of development experience the fun of gymnastics.

Established in 1998, the not-for-profit club is operated entirely by volunteers and currently welcomes approximately 55 registered gymnasts. Its focus has remained simple: keep participation affordable, make classes accessible and give every child an opportunity to get involved.

Now, with a new building to call home and new equipment arriving through our 20 years, $20,000 initiative with Gymnastics Tasmania, Allstars is beginning an exciting new chapter.

Gymnastics for everyone

Allstars offers Gymnastics for All classes designed to support children across different abilities, developmental stages and skill levels.

The club also opens its doors to the wider community through children’s birthday parties and fun days during the school holidays.

Rather than focusing solely on competition, Allstars aims to create an environment where children can learn gymnastics skills, build confidence and enjoy being active.

The club describes itself in three words: fun, dedicated and inclusive.

These values influence not only how its classes are delivered, but also how its new equipment was selected.

Equipment chosen with every gymnast in mind

Allstars carefully considered how gymnasts of different ages and abilities could benefit from each new item before making its final equipment choices.

The club selected a starter beam, octagon, sensory swing, and squat spots, with each product bringing something different to its programs.

The starter beam brings balance activities closer to floor level, giving more gymnasts an accessible way to explore beam skills and build confidence.

The octagon provides additional support for developing a variety of gymnastics movements, while the sensory swing introduces a new component to the club’s classes. Squat spots will provide clear visual markers that coaches can incorporate into activities and skill progressions.

For Allstars, that versatility was particularly important.

Powered by volunteers

Behind every weekly class is a committed group of people giving their time to keep the club operating.

Allstars is completely volunteer-run, with families, committee members and coaches working together to provide engaging classes where children can have fun while learning new gymnastics skills.

It is this dedication that makes the club most proud.

Operating a community sporting club requires far more than the time spent coaching on the floor. Volunteers also contribute to planning, administration, events and the many everyday tasks needed to keep classes accessible for local families.

An exciting new home

The next 12 months represent an important new beginning for Allstars as the club settles into its new building and permanent home.

The new space opens the door to fresh possibilities for its gymnasts, coaches and wider community. Combined with the arrival of new equipment, it gives the club an opportunity to strengthen its programs and consider what comes next.

After almost 30 years of creating opportunities for local children, the club is excited to see where this next chapter will take it.

There is no expectation that every child arrives with the same ability, experience or goal. What matters is that they are supported to participate, develop their skills and enjoy being part of the club.

Through the dedication of its volunteers, an inclusive approach and a new place to call home, Allstars Gymnastics is continuing to make gymnastics accessible to children across its community.
