Key Highlights:

USA Takes Home Gold!

Team USA, led by the legendary Simone Biles, made a triumphant comeback after their silver medal finish in Tokyo 2020. Their performances were nothing short of spectacular, with Biles shining on all apparatuses, earning her a total of eight Olympic medals (five gold). Despite Biles' recent calf injury, she delivered strong performances.

Italy's Historic Silver!

Italy made a significant mark by earning the silver medal, their best team finish since 1928. Their consistency and skill were evident, particularly on the balance beam and uneven bars, with standout performances from gymnasts like Alice D'Amato.

Brazil's Bronze Breakthrough!

Despite Flavia Saraiva falling on bars during warm-ups, leaving a visible injury above her right eye, the team rallied together. Brazil takes home its first ever team medal in gymnastics, earning the bronze by 0.234 points over Great Britain.

The Extraordinary Return of Simone Biles: Biles takes home another gold, where she now has a total of 8 medals (5 gold). With Biles pulling out four years prior due to the twisties, and to focus on her mental health, her remarkable return was pivotal in bringing a gold medal home for the team.

Recap:

Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles competed in all four events for Team USA, showcasing remarkable resilience and skill. Suni Lee, the 2020 Olympic All-Around champion, contributed strong performances on bars, beam, and floor, while Jade Carey excelled on vault with a score of 14.8. Hezley Rivera, although not competing, was part of the gold-winning team.

Brazil takes another blow after Julia Soares falls off the balance beam. But Flavia Saraiva brings them back with a solid performance, earning 13.433 on the apparatus.

Alice D'Amato of Italy delivered a stunning performance on uneven bars, particularly with her precise pirouette and dismount, bringing Italy closer to the podium as Brazil and China faced challenges on the balance beam.

Biles and Lee both perform strong on uneven bars, with Biles earning a score of 14.4 and Lee a 14.5666, despite her small mistake of catching the smaller bar sideways and hitting her feet on the ground.
