Introducing Grace to the 2023 Gymnastic Direct Ambassador team! Grace is a proud student at Perth Gymnastics Academy in WA where she has the most fun with her friends.
1. What do you love most about your sport?
I love competing with my squad! I also love challenging myself to do new skills, and to get them absolutely perfect. It is a very tough sport that needs lots of strength in your body and your mind, and I think it really helps me to have focus and strength at school and in other sports too
2. Where and how often do you train?
I’m really proud to be at Perth Gymnastics Academy in Western Australia, and I train 6 days a week for 22 hours.
3. What are your main goals?
To enjoy a long and successful career as an athlete, hopefully representing Australia,
To set a good example to younger athletes,
To always be kind and supportive in training and competitions,
To do well in school.
4. What skills do you want to learn this summer?
-
I’m perfecting my stretch flyaway,
-
My clear hip to handstand,
-
My tick-tock-back-handspring on the beam,
-
Upgrading my tumbles with layouts and adding some twists,
-
I’m also upgrading my vault which is super fun!
5. What is your happiest gymnastics/cheer/dance memory and what makes it so special?
I really love competing with my squad, we are all really good friends and we always have so much fun. We are each other’s biggest fans and always the loudest cheer squad on the competition floor.
6. Who is your biggest inspiration and why?
Georgia Godwin! I think she’s amazing and she’s so kind and sweet to her fans. I also get to train with Olena Edmeades who is representing Australia internationally, I just stayed up till 4am to watch her compete in Belgium and she was amazing. PGA has lots of other amazing junior and senior international gymnasts here in Perth so I am very lucky.
7. What are your favourite things in life?
Gymnastics, diving and climbing, and my dog Winston. I also really love food - I like trying new things and I’m working really hard with a new skill… eating with chopsticks.
