According to Nationwide Children's, a blog written by pediatric experts, most studies show that using tape can significantly decrease the incidence and severity of ankle sprains. Besides the physical support that taping can offer to an ankle, taping can also increase proprioception (the body's ability to know where it is in space) and helps improve the overall control of the ankle.
In the final episode of our Strapping Tape Series with Bri Ritchie, she demonstrates how to adequately strap an ankle using rigid tape, which is commonly used to offer more support to the ankle and helps with blood flow circulation to that area.
