For the first Club Focus feature of 2025, we warmly welcome North Shore Gymnastics and Sensory. Opening their doors less than 12 months ago, the team at North Shore strive to help children learn and grow whilst making the world more accessible and accepting of everyone.
1. How did your club start?
Our club is brand new. We opened in Roseville, in July 2024. We started North Shore Gymnastics and Sensory as we have enormous passion for guiding, supporting, and helping children as they learn and grow while making the world more accessible and accepting of everyone.
We are extremely passionate about children's learning, development, and growth through the sport of gymnastics as well as through sensory play.
We wanted to create a space for children to explore, discover, imagine and learn both gymnastics and sensory together. We provide a supportive platform providing strength, balance, fine and gross motor skills, coordination, confidence, sensory play, visual stimulation, music, instruments, robust spatial awareness, flexibility and body awareness to our children.
As we are parents ourselves, we believe in the importance of mums, dads, and carers connecting with each other in a safe space, to share the journey of parenthood. Our goal is provide children, parents, and families with an unforgettable experience.
2. How many kids do you train and at what skill levels?
Our club is currently a recreational club only.
3. Do you currently have a program for children with special needs?
We have just finalised our program for children with special needs which will be opening up in Term 2, 2025.
4. What is your organisation's vision/mission statement?
Our vision is to provide children with an unforgettable experience that teaches them new skills and activities each week, while enhancing their physical, social, intellectual and emotional wellbeing.
5. What are some objectives of your club?
We are extremely passionate about children's learning, development, and growth through the sport of gymnastics as well as through sensory play. We wanted to create a space for children to explore, discover, imagine and learn both gymnastics and sensory together.
6. What are you most proud of in your club?
We are most proud of the success our club has made in only 6 months of operating. We are constantly receiving such amazing feedback from all our families which warms our heart. We have had such a high re enrolment rate which has been fantastic.
7. Why do you think your club is important to families and your community?
We think our club is important to families and the community as we are strongly value the importance of mums, dads and carers connecting with each other in a safe space, to share the journey of parenthood. We try to give back to the community as much as we can through attending events, donating and raising awareness. One big event we did was donating our sensory packs to Bear Cottage in Manly. We were lucky enough to be invited into Bear Cottage to put a smile on many sick children’s faces through allowing them to explore the world of sensory play.
8. What piece of advice would you give to a gymnast/student?
Set a goal, work hard and never give up! You can achieve anything you put your mind to.
