For the final Club Focus of 2024, we shine the spotlight on PCYC Tamworth.
The PCYC gymnastics program started over 30 years ago as a gold coin donation run by our volunteer head gymnastics coach (Kim Smart) who is still running it today. It has now become a popular after school activity for many young participants, some of which are now being brought here by their parents who were also taught by Kim. PCYC now has 3 extra employed gymnastics coaches who assist with the coaching.
There are close to 200 children a week that utilise our gymnastics programs from ages 2 to high school age. Our classes are recreational gymnastics to keep our prices affordable and accessible to all families.
We do not have a specific set class but we also don’t have any restrictions for participation. We are very inclusive and cater to all needs.
Our mission is to empower our youth and to assist in keeping them active and motivated, whilst offering a safe space for them to be.
To provide a fun, safe place for all participants. To challenge themselves and develop gymnastics skills whilst also learning about teamwork and participation.
As a coach, we most enjoy seeing young people grow and develop, not only in the gym, but in general life as well. It’s an honour to watch them grow.
Our program is available at a lower cost than most due to having volunteer coaches which enables everyone to be able to participate.
It doesn’t matter what level you get to, but the effort you put in and that you just tried your best whilst also helping others. This attitude will lead to success anywhere.
